This article explains how to set a recipient phone number automatically for orders imported from your connected store.
Carriers require a valid recipient phone number. If an imported order arrives without one, you can have Swotzy fill it in for you instead of adding it to each shipment manually.
For how rules are structured and how rule priority works, see What Are Store Automation Rules?

Once you've completed these steps:
- Imported orders receive a recipient phone number automatically
- The rule appears in your store's Rules list, where you can reorder, duplicate, deactivate, or delete it
Before You Start
Make sure that:
- Your store is connected in Integrations > Stores
- You have read What Are Store Automation Rules?
There are two ways to set a phone number. Both create the same type of rule.
- Option A — set a default phone number. Use this when one number applies to every order that arrives without one.
- Option B — create the rule manually. Use this when the number depends on conditions, such as the shipping method.
Option A — Set a default phone number
- Go to Integrations > Stores
- Click Manage on the store you want to configure
- In the Defaults section, select the country code in the Default recipient phone field
- Enter the phone number
Swotzy creates an order import rule from this field. The rule sets your number when Recipient phone is empty, so orders that already include a phone number keep their own.
The rule appears under Order Import in the Rules list on the right, where you can manage it like any other rule.
Option B — Create the rule manually
Use this option when the phone number depends on conditions.
- Go to Integrations > Stores
- Click Manage on the store you want to configure
- In the Rules section, click Add order import rule under Order Import
- Select Set phone number from the action list — use the search field to find it
- Enter the number in the Phone number field
- Click Add Condition
- Select the field to check in the first dropdown — for example, Recipient phone, Recipient country, Is international, or Shipping method
- Select the operator in the second dropdown — for example, is, is not, or contains
- Enter the value to match in the third field
- Enter a name in Rule name (optional) to identify the rule in your list
- Leave Status set to Active
- Click Create Rule
Available operators depend on the field you select. To reproduce the behaviour of Option A, select Recipient phone and the is empty operator.
To match on more than one condition, click Add Condition again. All conditions must be true for the rule to apply.
Without conditions, the rule applies to every order imported from the store.
Rules run in order, and the first matching rule wins per group. To set different numbers for different orders, place your most specific rule first.
