This article explains how to select a carrier and service automatically for orders imported from your connected store.
Choosing a carrier for every order takes time, and the best option changes from shipment to shipment. A carrier selection rule applies your selection logic for you, so Swotzy compares the available services and picks one before you generate a label.
For how rules are structured and how rule priority works, see What Are Store Automation Rules?
Result
Once you've completed these steps:
- Imported orders receive a carrier and service automatically
- The rule appears in your store's Rules list, where you can reorder, duplicate, deactivate, or delete it
Before You Start
Make sure that:
- Your store is connected in Integrations > Stores
- You have read What Are Store Automation Rules?
Carrier selection rules belong to the Carrier Selection group. They run after an order is imported and before a label is generated. The first matching rule wins.
Create the rule
- Go to Integrations > Stores
- Click Manage on the store you want to configure
- In the Rules section, click Add carrier selection rule under Carrier Selection
- Select Pick best carrier + service as the action
- Select Cheapest price or Fastest delivery in the Strategy field
- Select which contracts to compare in the Contracts field
- To limit the comparison, click + next to Carriers + services (optional) and select a carrier and a service
- Click Add Condition
- Select the field to check in the first dropdown — for example, Recipient country, Is international, Total weight (kg), or Shipping method
- Select the operator in the second dropdown — for example, is, is not, or contains
- Enter the value to match in the third field
- Enter a name in Rule name (optional) to identify the rule in your list
- Leave Status set to Active
- Click Create Rule
Strategy and contracts
Strategy sets what Swotzy optimises for. Cheapest price selects the lowest-priced service. Fastest delivery selects the service with the shortest delivery time.
Contracts applies if you have your own carrier contracts linked to Swotzy. It sets whether the comparison uses your own contract prices, Swotzy contract prices, or both.
Limiting the comparison
Leave Carriers + services (optional) empty to compare all available carriers and services.
Add a row to limit the comparison to a specific carrier. Leave the service dropdown set to All services to compare every service from that carrier, or select a service to narrow it further. A row naming one carrier and one service selects that service.
Conditions
Available operators depend on the field you select.
To match on more than one condition, click Add Condition again. All conditions must be true for the rule to apply.
Without conditions, the rule applies to every order imported from the store.
A label is generated when all information required for label generation is present.
Rules are evaluated from bottom to top, and the first matching rule wins per group. The rule at the bottom of the list has the highest priority. New rules are added at the bottom automatically. To apply different selection logic to different orders, place your most specific rule at the bottom and broader catch-all rules above it.
