How to automatically create courier labels for Shopify orders – Help Center

his article explains how to set up automatic courier label creation for orders placed in your Shopify store.

When configured, Swotzy will automatically assign a courier service and generate a shipping label after the order is imported — provided all required shipment data is available.

This feature works on all Shopify plans.

Result after setup

Once enabled:

• Customers select a courier delivery method at checkout
• Orders are automatically imported into Swotzy
• The selected courier service is assigned automatically
• Shipment weight can be calculated automatically
• Shipping labels are generated automatically (if all required data is available)
• Shipment status is set to Ready

You only need to print the label and hand the shipment over to the courier.

Before you start

Make sure that:

• Your Shopify store is connected to Swotzy
• Courier delivery methods are created in Shopify
• Product weight is defined in Shopify
• HS codes are added for international shipments

Step 1 — Create courier delivery methods in Shopify

If courier delivery is not yet available in your checkout:

Log in to your Shopify Admin
Go to Settings
Click Shipping and delivery
Open General shipping rates
Select your shipping zone (for example: Latvia)
Click Edit rate or Add rate

Define the courier delivery method:

• Enter a clear name (for example: “Standard delivery” or ''Fedex courier delivery'')
• Set the delivery price
• Add a short description if needed
• Click Done

Customers will now see the courier delivery option at checkout.

Step 3 — Configure courier automation in Swotzy

Log in to app.swotzy.com
Go to Integrations → Stores
Click the Manage button next to your connected Shopify store
Open the Shipping methods section

This will take you to the settings where you can define automation rules for courier delivery.

Step 4 — Create the courier automation rule

To automatically assign a courier service and generate labels:

Click + New action
Copy the exact courier delivery method name from Shopify checkout
Paste it into the Method name field
Set Matching type to Exact
In Action type, select Use courier delivery service
Choose the courier provider
Choose the specific service
Click Add

Automation is now active.

Step 5 — Enable automatic weight calculation (recommended)

In the integration settings:

• Enable Calculate package weight from shipping items
• Define your default package dimensions under Default package

If you use different package sizes, you can adjust them manually per shipment.

What happens after setup

When a customer selects the courier delivery method:

• The order is imported into Swotzy (usually within 15 minutes)
• The courier service is assigned automatically
• Shipment weight is calculated (if enabled)
• If all required data is complete, the shipping label is generated automatically
• Shipment status becomes Ready

If information is missing, the shipment status will show Action needed.
